The Dangers of Smoking and
Vaping
The health risks associated with
smoking and vaping are significant and far-reaching.Studies
have found that even e-cigarettes claiming to be nicotine
free contain amounts of nicotine which negatively affects
adolescent brain development, and when heated up more toxic
chemicals are formed which can be found in antifreeze, paint
solvent, weed killer and much more. Smoking
is the leading cause of preventable diseases, including
cancer, heart disease, and chronic respiratory illnesses. It
drastically increases the risk of developing Chronic
Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), which can
cause life-threatening breathing problems. For those smoking
20 cigarettes a day, their heart works overtime - beating
20,000 times more per day compared to a non - smoker, putting
immense strain on the cardiovascular system.
But the dangers don’t just stop with
the smoker. Second hand smoke harms those around you,
especially loved ones. Children exposed to smoke are at
higher risk of sudden infant death syndrome (cot death), and
they are more likely to pick up smoking themselves later in
